A smooth, creamy dip made with chickpeas, tahini, lemon, and garlic. Perfect as mezze, a spread, or a side dish.

Ingredients
1 can chickpeas (400g), drained and rinsed
3 tbsp tahini (add more for creamier texture)
2 tbsp lemon juice, fresh
1 garlic clove (2 if you want stronger flavor)
4 tbsp olive oil
½ tsp salt
1–2 tbsp ice-cold water (important for smooth texture)
Paprika or cumin (optional garnish)
Olive oil for serving
Preparation
Step 1: Prepare the chickpeas
Drain and rinse the chickpeas.
Optional but recommended for extra smooth hummus:
Peel each chickpea by pinching lightly (takes 3 minutes).
Step 2: Make the base
Add lemon juice and garlic to the blender.
Blend 20–30 seconds until garlic is completely crushed.
Add tahini and blend again until creamy.
This step makes your hummus EXTRA smooth.
Step 3: Blend the hummus
Add chickpeas, salt, and olive oil.
Blend for 1 minute.
Add ice-cold water one tablespoon at a time.
This makes the hummus fluffy and pale.
Blend until completely smooth.
Step 4: Taste and adjust
Add more lemon → more tang
Add more tahini → richer flavor
Add more salt → stronger flavor
Step 5: Serve
Spoon into a bowl.
Make a small swirl with a spoon.
Drizzle olive oil.
Add paprika, cumin, or whole chickpeas on top.
